Overview of a No-Needle Anesthesia No-Scalpel Open Ended Vasectomy.
For many years, the vasectomy has been a safe and popular option for couples who no longer want children.
Having a vasectomy is a highly reliable and cost-effective method of male birth control. Having a vasectomy is far more easier on the male body than a woman having her tubes tied. Traditionally, this procedure would require shaving and an incision in the scrotum, stitches, and some degree of post-operative discomfort.
NSV Specialist Dr. Emanuel Friedman of MetroWest Urology now offers a new innovative treatment with his open-ended, no-scalpel and no-needle vasectomy. The microsurgery is much less than a traditional surgery with far less complications and pain.
What is a vasectomy?
A vasectomy is a permanent male birth control method. A specialized NSV (No Scalpel Vasectomy) micro-surgeon who is trained in advanced vasectomy (male sterilization) involves
surgically cutting the tubes that transport sperm from the testicles to the penis. The tubes that are cut only carry sperm. After your vasectomy you will ejaculate as normal- just without
the sperm itself. The only way to tell if sperm is in your ejaculation is through a microscope. Everything will look and feel normal. With the open-ended technique we do not block or “tie”
the tubes. We leave them open. This reduces swelling, pain, and other complications that you might have with the traditional method. Sperm simply absorbs itself back into the body.
We do not use scalpels. A surgical scalpel is not needed in a no-scalpel vasectomy. Instead Dr. Friedman will use small micro tools to cut the tubes. With no scalpel, you will have much less pain, bleeding and bruising.
Finally- now we do not use needles. If you are nervous about having a needle “down-there” – rest assured! We use a spray anesthesia. No Needles. Just a spray that gets sprayed onthe area before we begin.
What can I expect with a micro-surgery vasectomy?
No Needle Anesthesia Vasectomy – Nothing accept the anesthetic solution goes into the patient! Instead of a needle, a pen sized jet is used to spray the solution on. It feels like a thump on the skin- it is much less invasive and involves lower risk and less complications.
This same spray techniques has been used for decades with other types of surgeries such as what a dentist might use.
New technology has made this needle-less vasectomy even more attractive. The anesthesia administered is more precise and the numb feeling works right away.
We specialize in the open-ended vasectomy procedure, which minimizes chronic post procedure pain.
Dr Friedman has performed more than 15,000 no-scalpel with no-needle vasectomies. The procedure takes about 10 minutes.
We accept national and international vasectomy and vasectomy reversal patients from Brazil and other countries worldwide.
We have interpreters for Portuguese and Spanish speaking patients. View more on what to expect with a no-needle no-scalpel vasectomy procedure.
